G calls every morning at 6:30. I am not really sure why, but I guess it is nice to receive a wakeup call like that. They were preparing lunch. It was 2:30 in the afternoon. Lunch is at 3 and dinner at 10.
For the rest of the trip they are staying with a friend that happens to be G's first love. The whole thing sounds romantic now that it is twenty years later. An American student goes to Spain to study abroad and meets a person at school and they fall totally in love. The American does not go home after the semester, but gets various jobs and stays for awhile. A true gypsy at heart, the American travels to Israel and lives on a kubbutz and meets lots of new friends from all over Europe, but realizes one must follow their heart and goes back to Spain to try and make the relationship work.
the Spanish girl moves to America and teaches at a local university and they tour the United States in the summer. Everything is excellent until Christmas vacation and the death of the Spanish girls father. It has a very unhappy ending for the American when the Spanish girl goes back to Spain and the two end up not speaking for over a year. The Spanish girl goes on the get married and have a family and the American realized it was never meant to be. Forgiveness is slow in coming, but finally it happens and the two remain friends.
Of course this is a unique love story with many different angles. I think it is a great story.
